OI 2025 Special Guest: Elder Gerrit W. Gong
Join us November 4th and 5th for a special keynote
It is our great honor and sincere pleasure to announce that this year’s keynote address will be given by Elder Gerrit W. Gong, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elder Gong’s lifelong service, scholarship, and compassion have touched hearts and strengthened communities across the world.
In recent years, Elder Gong has offered thoughtful perspectives on the moral and spiritual dimensions of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. His reflections invite us to consider not only how we use these tools, but how they shape our understanding of human creativity, agency, our relationship with a loving Heavenly Father, and stewardship. Elder Gong’s insights encourage a view of AI that is both innovative and deeply ethical—anchored in compassion, accountability, and respect for the divine nature of each person.
Throughout his ministry, Elder Gong has invited others to see the divine potential in all people and to seek understanding across boundaries of belief, culture, and experience. His thoughtful and gentle approach to questions of faith, humanity, and connection encourages reflection not only on what we know, but on who we are becoming together.
We are deeply honored that he has accepted our invitation to speak. His address will offer an opportunity for reflection, unity, and renewed purpose as we gather in a spirit of learning and shared goodwill.
We welcome Elder Gong with gratitude and anticipation, and we look forward to the light and perspective he will bring to this year’s gathering.
