This talk opens theological issues that usually we LDS dare not address because they lead to mysteries for which solid answers seem impossible. As we progress no ‘old’ answer remains adequate since we learn more (Article of Faith 9) about God and humanity. Carl is telling the truth about our situation including our crying desire for more divine help to face (not evade) the question of what humans and Gods are becoming. Are our current forms precisely the final forms of resurrected intelligences? No. We don’t know what divine progress will yield in social material/spiritual forms in the everlasting lives we design together in coming councils. We know it could cause future wars between us if we don’t truly love each other enough to be open to mutual influence regarding purposes and methods we pursue—worlds without end. Loving mutual persuasion is what intelligences need most to enjoy together, and all our efforts on tech improvement should enhance that divine capacity and desire. The myriad forms intelligences might take together (in our sector of reality) should aim to enhance the joys of living together forever.
